The book "can do without God. Lev Tolstoy from the point of view of Russian law "continues the series of publications that have become popular among readers dedicated to the history of Russian and Soviet law. The author explores the literary works of the great writer, philosopher and public figure on the basis of Russian laws and regulations, including decisions of the government of the Senate as a cassation instance in various resonant matters. The novels "Resurrection", "Anna Karenina", the drama "Living corpse" written by L.N. Tolstoy, on the basis of materials from real trials, allowed the author to express his own point of view regarding moral aspects of both the most criminal misconduct or crime, and subsequent mental suffering of the criminal who committed it, as well as to conduct a comparative analysis of the legal grounds for bringing to the criminal liability of the terrorist of Vera Zasulich and the heroine Roman "Resurrection" prostitutes of Ekaterina Maslova.
