The book is a documentary narrative about the life and creative fate of Daniil Leonidovich Andreev, a poet and thinker, whose works, seeing the light only after decades after his death, occupied a prominent place in our culture. The son of the outstanding Russian writer Leonid Andreev, the godson Gorky, Daniil Andreev survived all the tragic events of the domestic history of the first half of the 20th century. Accused of preparing the attempt on Stalin, the basis of which was the novel "Wanderers of the Night", he left for a ten -year term in Vladimir prison, where he conceived and wrote the poetic ensemble "Russian gods", "Iron Mystery", a mystical treatise of the Rose of the World. The book tells about the origins of the poet’s attitude, about the nature of his mystical insights, about their spiritual and life sources. The narrative is based on the documents of the era - the archive of the poet and his widow, on the memoirs of contemporaries, correspondence, protocols of interrogations, etc
