The book is dedicated to the turning centenary of 1650-1750, when the Russian Empire was born on the ruins of the Moscow state. Over these hundred years, the appearance of the country has changed beyond recognition. There was a real revolution in the spiritual, economic and social spheres. The main signs of the era: church schism and the emergence of the Old Believers, the approval of serfdom and peasant wars, the total chanting of culture, the strengthening of Western European influence and the suppression of the national identity of the Russian people. The so -called "era of transformations" was a time when a civil confrontation in Russia reached the greatest intensity.
In the interpretation of official historiography, the changes that occurred have always been accepted to represent as a difficult but necessary transition from "barbarism" to "enlightenment". Meanwhile, in the folk environment, the rejection of social and spiritual innovations was so strong that the doctrine of the reformed Russia - as about the "state of Antichrist"
