The book proposed to the attention of readers is devoted to a comprehensive study of the history and culture of medieval Bulgaria, the identification of its peculiar position in the Byzantine-Slavic community of the IX-XV centuries, determining the mechanisms of building their own identity and the evolution of historical traditions that have been reflected in the unique written monuments of the era, first translated by the author to the author to the author Russian language. Medieval Bulgaria, the independent political development of which was interrupted twice - Byzantium at the beginning of the XI century. and Ottomans at the end of the XIV century. - As part of the Byzantine-Slavic community, she managed to form a unique cultural model that determined the content of the identity of the Bulgarians, their understanding of history and her place in it. The works created in medieval Bulgaria and manuscript monuments formed the basis of the general book of Orthodox Slavs.
