The authors of the book tried to present a generalized picture of the history of Crimea VIII - the first half of the X century. Based on the study of both written and archaeological sources. The chronological framework of the publication cover the period from the end of the VII - beginning of the VIII century, when the Khazars reached the borders of the Crimean peninsula and to a certain extent began to influence the situation here until the middle of the 10th century. According to the authors, the Khazars were pushed outside the peninsula by the end of the 9th century. However, for another half -century they were one of the serious political players of Crimea
