The book includes one of the most important works of the outstanding Russian historian, archaeologist and expert on the culture of ancient Russia Academician B.A. Rybakova Craft of Ancient Russia. This composition is a doctoral dissertation of Rybakov (defense was held in 1942) and actually marks the birth of an outstanding scientist. It was published in 1948 and was awarded the Stalin Prize. Since then, this compensation of scientific knowledge about the craft of Ancient Russia, about the techniques and technologies of crafts obtained on the basis of a thorough study of archeology and written sources have gained universal recognition in the scientific environment, laid the foundations for the emergence of many historical studies of individual crafts. Baking the basis of its composition the idea of craft as the first of the forms of industry and carefully examining the place and role of crafts in urban life and agriculture, the author shows the state of the ancient Russian economy and its development.
