This book consists of two parts. In the first, a study of the dramatic period of the Japanese history of the first half of the twentieth century was placed, when the country was rapidly rolling into the abyss of totalitarianism. The wars that Japan carried at that time brought innumerable disasters to both the Japanese themselves and residents of other countries. The author for the first time reveals managerial and especially cultural mechanisms that allowed the mobilization of the masses with unprecedented success. He is trying to understand what was a Japanese at that time and what was the attractiveness of the country chosen by the country for them. The focus is such interesting problems as the attitude of the Japanese to their body and spirit, to old age and youth, life and death, to themselves and others.
