The new book of the famous Russian researcher of the Battle of Kursk, candidate of historical sciences, the leading researcher of the South-Western State University (Kursk) V.N. Zlulin, dedicated to the life and military path of the outstanding Soviet military leaders of the Hero of the Soviet Union, the main marshal of the armored troops of P. A . Rotmistrov and twice Hero of the Soviet Union, Marshal of the armored troops of M.E. Katukov. The troops under their command took an active part and solved complex combat missions in all the battles of the Great Patriotic War. The most difficult tests fell to them in the Battle of Kursk. In the summer of 1943, during the fierce, bloody battles, their tank armies played a very important role in achieving the victory of the Red Army in repelling the blow of the German troops to Kursk, and then during the Belgorod-Kharkov offensive operation. These successes contributed to the decisive jerk of the Soviet troops to the Dnieper and the victorious completion of the radical fracture in the war.
The book was prepared at a wide base of documentary sources stored in the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the National Archive of the United States and the feudal archive of Germany. It is illustrated by rare photographs from domestic archives, museums, family meetings of relatives and close military leaders that were not published earlier
