The first posthumous collected works of M.L. Gasparova (in six volumes) sets his task to convey the versatility of his scientific interests as fully as possible and present the main directions of his activity. Gasparov is primarily famous for his antique studies, although he called himself only "temporarily acting classic philologist in a narrow gap between those who taught us, and those who came very soon after us. He also engaged in the Middle Ages and especially a lot - he translated. In the second volume of the works of M.L. Gasparova presented works on the literature of Ancient Rome and on Latin literature of the subsequent period, mainly medieval. They were intended for publications of different profiles and therefore themselves are of multi-ghost in nature: panoramic paintings of large historical and literary periods, thin portraits of the most prominent ancient Roman poets, and deep analytical analysis of individual works. One of the main parts of Tom binds one of the main ones for Gasparov, the history, content and fate of ancient rhetoric, as well as interest in poetry - from Catullus and Ovid to medieval vagants. In this volume, as in the previous one, research by M.L. Gasparova is accompanied by his artistic translations, the work on which was carried out in parallel with scientific research
