The main attraction of Buryatia - Lake Baikal - is known in Russia since childhood. The largest, deepest, older. This lake attracts tourists from all over the world, attracting travelers with their purity and mysterious unknown. In 1996, Baikal was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
However, to see Baikal is only one of the reasons to come here. Buryatia is a unique region. This is an amazing and unique land that distinguishes not only an amazing natural wealth, but also an original national flavor. Buryats are very careful about their culture, honor the national language and traditions. It is difficult to believe, but almost everyone Buryat knows his pedigree on 6-7 knees and is proud of his ancestors!
The centuries -old history of the peoples of Buryatia is also reflected in today"s day: there are many museums with the rarest exhibits in the region, a large number of Buddhist monasteries are concentrated here, in which relics revered throughout the world are stored. Almost throughout the republic, unique attractions are scattered, which can compete with the most promoted “miracles of the world”. So, in Buryatia several important shrines of world Buddhism are concentrated. In the Egitui datsan, a sandalwood Buddha is stored - the only lifetime sculpture of the Buddha Shakyamuni. In the Ivolginsky datsan there is another relic-the imperishable body of Pandito Hambo-Lama XII Dasha-Dorjo Etiglov.
One of the main impressions will be Buryat national cuisine. Few regions can boast of such an assortment of local gastronomic brands: Buuza, Baikal Omul, pure, miraculous herbal tea of Sagan Dali ... These names were probably heard by many Russians. In Ulan-Ude, you can try all these delights almost everywhere, and the traveler is available to both classic recipes and the author’s modern Buryat cuisine. You can even find authentic Buryat burgers!
