The region of Southeast Asia, in its current borders, includes 11 countries: Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar (Birma), Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Brunei and Eastern Timor.
For many centuries, these countries have developed in close interaction with each other, and the boundaries of numerous states, then arising, then ceased to exist under the onslaught of various circumstances, constantly changed, acquiring the outlines on the map, familiar to us today.
The book is affected by the most important milestones of the development of each, individual country, from ancient times to the twentieth century, which also influenced the formation of the appearance of the region as a whole.
Particular attention is paid to well-documented events of the XIX-XX centuries, i.e. The process of colonization of countries and the heyday of the struggle of peoples for national liberation, as well as historical personalities who have risen during this struggle to the level of national heroes.
Despite the numerous cultural and religious differences between individual countries, they are part of the geographical and historical community, part of the Southeast Asia region, which since ancient times attracted the attention of the rest of the world with its diversity and color
