"Born in battles" is the first and so far the only multifaceted study in the history of medieval Scotland in Russian. The author, senior employee of the Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, gives an overview of the components of the Kingdom of Scotts, trains the development of a unified monarchy, feudal relations, clan system, cities and the national church. Particular attention was paid to the early formation of the Scottish nation and the first, the decisive stage of the wars for independence from England, who was crowned with the victory of the Scots, led by William Wallace and King Robert Bruce. The author sought to reflect the original heritage of the Scottish Middle Ages as fully as possible, including through a rich choice of illustrations. It is significant that the second edition of the book is published on the eve of the historical referendum on the independence of Scotland from the United Kingdom.
