"Book of pious speech and good deeds of our holy King Louis", written by Seneishal Shampani Jean de Juanville, is first published in Russian. This is one of the most famous works of the Western European Middle Ages, which tells about the rule of the French king Louis IX Saint (1226-1270) and his participation in the seventh Crusade. The author, being a layman and close associates of Louis of the saint, not only created his own, a special portrait of this medieval sovereign - thanks to his ability to paint events vividly and in detail, Zhuanville was able to very accurately and attractively draw a picture of a knightly society of the 13th century.
