The collective monograph is devoted to the study of helmsman"s books, which are meetings of church canons, legal monuments, as well as polemical and teaching texts. Based on a comprehensive study of sources, a review of the handwritten tradition of the helmsman"s books in Russia, their existence and communication with church departments and monasteries. Particular attention is paid to the new editions that arose in the XV -XVII centuries. and their distribution until the appearance of the first printed publication of helmets. The publication of printed heat in Moscow in 1649-1653, falling at a turning point in Russian history, is considered in a wide context of the history of canonical books.
