The collection of articles contains materials of the same scientific and practical conference, organized by the Department of Source Studies of the History Faculty of Moscow State University and the Russian Intellectual History Society of the Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The book presents the works of young historians, students and graduate students of the department, that generation that will determine the image of the historical science of the future, as well as well -known historians, specialists in the field of methodology, source studies of Russian history. The problems of articles focus on the reader’s attention on the personal stories of Russian autocrats, politicians, science and culture figures in the reflection of ego sources, as well as on the problems of the reconstruction of historical events of Russian history of the XIX-early XX centuries, which reflects modern trends in the subject field of historical research. The texts contain a comprehension of discussion problems in modern historiography, reveal the conceptual foundations of “new biographical history”, as well as the practice of studying Russian history based on ego sources using the biographical method.
