The book of the Professor of the Eastern Faculty of St. Petersburg State University V.V. Emelyanov proposed to the attention of the reader is devoted to the study of the festive tradition of the peoples of the ancient Middle East. It tells about the months of the lunar-solar calendar and the festive rites known from the oldest written monuments recorded on clay, stone and papyrus. For the first time, the calendar rituals of the peoples of the ancient Middle East are considered as a single festive cycle for the entire region, which has a certain semantics associated with the physical and psycho -emotional state of the collective in different seasons of the year. The book puts forward a climatic hypothesis of the Russian cult calendars of the Middle East.
