The air battle for the Kuban in the spring of 1943 is both the most famous and, paradoxically, the least studied by the episode of the air war on the Eastern Front. It is believed that during it, our aircraft first conquered dominance in the air, which before that constantly remained behind the Luftwaffe. True, the reason why this did not affect the course of ground battles remained unknown, as well as the loss of both sides. The authors managed not only to collect all the information about “unknown losses” (up to a single aircraft), but also to completely, literally by days and hours, reconstruct the stages of a grand air battle, during which the star part of the career of the most famous Soviet aces and German experts began. This is the first detailed and sensational book about the air war over the past decade
