In this collection of documents, materials from the funds of the Archive of the Russian Geographical Society, the Russian State Archive of the Navy, the State Archive of the Russian Federation, the Russian State Archive of the Economics on the activities of the hydrographic expedition of the North Arctic Ocean under the leadership of the captain of the 2nd rank B. A. Vilkitsky were first submitted. In 1914-1915 The vessels of this expedition "Taimyr" and "Vaigach" not only opened a number of islands and an extensive archipelago north of the Taimyr Peninsula, but for the first time in the history of Russia went from east to west from Vladivostok to Arkhangelsk along the coast of Siberia, opening the era of navigation along the Northern Sea Raid of the Northern Sea ways. The collection also published documents on the use of Severmorput during the Civil War and in the 1920s.
