This book for the first time in Russian historiography is devoted to the entire complex of air battles that unfolded in July-August 1943 in the central sections of the Soviet-German front. Their most important episode was the Battle of Kursk, which includes the defensive operation of the Central and Voronezh fronts, after the Germans began the strategic operation according to the Citadel plan, and the subsequent offensive operations of the Red Army to the north and south of the so -called Kursk arc.
As you know, despite the powerful blow undertaken on July 5, the Germans could not break the defense and surround the Soviet troops on July 5, supported by squadrons of the 6th and 4th Air Fleets. At the same time, from the first hours, cruel and bloody battles unfolded not only on Earth, but also in the air. Then, when the enemy managed to bloodless and stop, the counterattack of the Soviet troops unfolded according to the plans of the Kutuzov, to which the troops of the Western, Bryansk and Central Fronts transferred on July 12, 1943, and the “commander of the Rumyans”, in which the troops of the Steppe and Voronezh fronts from the Voronezh fronts participated from August 3, 1943
The book considers the course of the struggle in each of the individual operations, conclusions are drawn about why in the summer of 1943 the Luftwaffe could not have a decisive influence on the course and outcome of the battle on Earth (unlike 1941 and 1942 gg)
