The educational manual outlines the foundations of historical metrology, presents historiography of discipline, a characteristic of its sources, methods and research approaches is given. Features of the formation and development of basic Russian measures, their field of application are considered in the general context of the economic and cultural history of the Russian state and society, the development of scientific and technical knowledge.
