The book tells about the tragic events of 1993, when, against the backdrop of the painful process of the formation of new forms of statehood in Russia, after the collapse of the USSR, the catastrophic collapse of the economy and degradation of morality, the contradictions within the power structures were aggravated, which ultimately led to an armed clash in the center of Moscow. The situation was aggravated by the activation of criminal groups, right -winged elements and foreign special services that sought to access the management of management in the authorities, which would inevitably lead to the further collapse of our country. They were opposed by security organs, for several years themselves attacked radicals of all stripes, exhausted by reorganization and the loss of prestige of the Chekist profession. But even in this difficult period, there were many people, in spite of everything, selflessly fulfilling their duty, often with the risk of life for life to ensure the security of the state that do not graze threats and do not count on awards. During the period of exacerbation of the situation, employees of the security agencies, including the author of this book, presented in it as Andrei Orlov, made attempts to prevent bloodshed, prevent the development of the situation according to the scenario of the civil war. The absolute majority of persons acting in the narrative are real participants in the events whose names and names are changed at their request. The book provides numerous documentary materials, evidence of eyewitnesses, memories of participants and excerpts from publications in the media
