The book is dedicated to the geopolitical struggle that has unfolded in the Arctic in recent decades. The key problems of the region are investigated: the international legal regime of the Arctic, approaches to the use of hydrocarbon resources, issues of shipping and international cooperation, ecology, the influence of climatic changes, and scientific research. Much attention is paid to the policy of individual countries, including non -acarctic states, the development of military infrastructure in the Arctic and the construction of new icebreakers, and different approaches to the use of shipping routes are analyzed.
