The word "freedom" is used so often, and they are so mercilessly abused that it risks turning into a hackneyed stamp. In the book "Another Freedom", the anthropologist and theorist of culture Svetlana Boym (1959-2015) offers a fresh look at this fundamental concept. Exploring the rich cross-cultural history of the idea from antiquity to this day, Boym argues that our attempts to comprehend the phenomenon of freedom should not be limited by the question: "What is freedom?", But they must also include questioning: "What could become freedom? " Starting from the analysis of the formation of politics and art as a public sphere, Boym gradually expands the research field, considering the relationship between freedom and liberation, modernity and terror, political dissent and creative removal.
