"History of Spain" is an outstanding monument of medieval historiography, one of the first Western European chronicles written in spoken (medieval Castilian) language. The History of Spain was compiled under the leadership of King of Castile and Leon Alfonso X the Wise (1252 - 1284) and covers the period from the settlement of Spain with the legendary Hercules to the death of King Fernando III saint (1217 - 1252), the father of the wise king. The second volume included chapters 308 - 801, telling about the events of the IV - beginning of the XI century, - from the spread of Christianity during the time of Constantine the Great (306 - 337) to the end of the reign of King Leon Bernemudo III (1028 - 1037)
