The collection proposed to readers consists of articles of Russian and Vietnamese scientists-participants in the round table on the topic of Vietnam-Chinese relations: difficult search for consent, conducted by the Center for the study of Vietnam and ASEAN on February 20, 2019 in connection with the 40th anniversary of the 1979 border war between the 1979. China and Vietnam. The collection includes 12 articles divided into two parts. The first considers the conflict itself, its causes and consequences, the role of the Soviet Union in it, the lessons of this war. In the second part, the authors affect the urgent problems of relations between two neighboring countries during the period from normalizing relations in 1991 to the present day.
