After spending a whole year (1908–1909) in the virgin jungle of the Amazon, Thomas Wyffen, a member of the Royal Geographical Society, a member of the Royal Anthropological Society, publishes the book “A year among cannibals. North-Western Amazonia ”, which replenished the Golden Fund of Literature on Travel and Research. Along with abundant actual material and thin observations of the world of animals and plants, the author creates many bright paintings of the tropical forest, describes the life of the Indian tribes he met: their life, culture, languages, a system of beliefs, features of interaction with each other and white people. More than a hundred years have passed since Wyffen has returned from a trip to the region between the Issa and Zapor rivers, but the book he wrote is still of great interest and scientific value for the widest circle of readers. Like an amber, she absorbed her and forever retained for us the memory of the almost disappeared Amazon tribes
