The real book continues the narrative of the difficult everyday life of the Russian soldier. The first part of this series, “The Russian Army as it is, without embellishment,” saw the light in 2021 and aroused great interest, so I decided to continue.
There is a lot of things here!
The prose of the life of a soldier is life, various everyday little things. For example, what is military hygiene in the 19th century? How was the care and medical monitoring of recruits carried out? Where were the soldiers placed and why?
The next problems are a complete set. After all, the largest headache in the army is personnel. It is not enough at the first stage to form a combat -ready military unit - it is necessary to constantly maintain discipline and order in it. And how to do this if, for example, “unreliable elements” fall into the part? But at the beginning of the 20th century, during the period of the so -called turmoil, such faces began to penetrate into the ranks of the army constantly. What did you do with revolutionaries in the army? Could they participate in military campaigns?
In the book you will find answers to questions when a personnel army appeared in Russia, and what did it mean? How and from whom were the most combat -ready units in Russia, in the Caucasus? Did the retired lower ranks call for service and when exactly? What and when served as the beginning of such a phenomenon as hazing? How did the translations from one part to another come? Could the bottom of the lower rank, aside, go to the monastery? How did the status of missing women affect the remaining wives? A significant place was given to the issue of reforming the army in the 2nd half of the 19th century, immediately after the Crimean War, in the 1860–70s. How and why did this happen? Was the army among the beneficiaries of the abolition of serfdom in 1861? And why did the military minds of the whole of Europe (and Russia in particular) suddenly decided to come to the need to create an “armed people” instead of the previously existing room of the head of the army?
In general, I sincerely hope that my modest work will answer many of your questions and help to understand the controversial moments of the history of the Russian army
