N.F. Dubrovin - historian, academician, general. It occupies a special place among the military historians of the second half of the 19th century. Essentially, he did not join any of the currents that were determined in the military -historical science of that time. The circle of interests of the scientist was very vast. This historical work of the author talks about the events that occurred in Russia in 1773-1774 and known to us under the name Pugachevshchina. Dubrovin studied the colossal number of materials stored in the archives of St. Petersburg and Moscow, and documents from private archives. To make up for the lack of information and the complete characteristics of events and the course of the uprising, the author used unrelated documents and, of course, the investigation case over Pugachev and his accomplices.
Initially, labor was published in three volumes, but for the convenience of readers, the information is divided into two books, conditionally divided into 1773 and 1774. Volume one, 1773
