The book of the researcher of the history of the First World War Alexander Kozlov was compiled on the basis of documents of the military-historical archive and the memoirs of participants about the military operations and the life of one of the oldest regiments of the Russian Imperial Army, the 14th Grenadier Georgian Highness of the heir to the Prince of the regiment, in 1916.
After stabilizing the Russian front in the fall of 1915, the troops of the warring powers in 1916 moved to a protracted trench warfare.
The emergence of new types of weapons, the massive use of artificial barriers in the form of stripes of barbed wire, the device of heavy dugouts and shelters from durable building materials built using new technologies led to the fact that the warring armies were not able to break through the front and even advance on Small distance.
The troops buried in the ground, stretching out the lines of trenches from the Baltic to the Black Sea. A long bloody, meaningless struggle for the exhaustion of human and material resources began.
The second Patriotic War, as contemporaries called it, in 1916 was called the Great Trench War.
In chronological order, the day after day is documented as the actions of the military units of the II Caucasian Army Corps, the Caucasian Grenadier Division, the regiments constituting the division, and officers, and the lower ranks of the 14th Grenadier Georgian Regiment.
