The collection contains materials of the round table, which took place on February 20, 2018. They reflect various stages of the origin, formation and subsequent activities of the Red Army and the Navy. Considerable attention is paid to the background of the Red Army, the development of problems of military construction in the works of theorists of scientific communism. Most articles of the authors of the collection are devoted to the problems of the early history of the Red Army, solving the problems of the old army, the role of the army in the October Revolution of 1917, and its participation in the development of various problems of the young Soviet state.
