History and collective memory

The book presents the most significant studies, directly or indirectly related to the polemic around the sensational book of I. Kh. Yerushelamy "Wrth: Jewish history and Jewish memory." The articles of large modern historians and culturologists are devoted to historicism in rabinistic literature, Jewish historiography in the Middle Ages, the collective memory of the pogroms of Bogdan Khmelnitsky, the formation and interaction of the myths about the Masada and the Holocaust in the minds of modern Israelis, etc. This collection covers from different angles the problems of history and memory in Jewish culture, traditionally assumed by the most historical of all ancient cultures, and introduces the reader to the methodological directions in this area
