The training manual implements the installation on the formation of professional competencies of a specialist philologist provided for by the third-generation state educational standard. From the standpoint of literary hermeneutics, relevant issues of the theory of the genre and historical poetics of the Russian classical story of the second half of the 19th century are highlighted. Based on the "removal" of the repeated features of the genre poetics of the story, the typologization of the associated components of the artistic structure taken not in the sum, but as a historically established systemic unity, the genre paradigm is adjusted, which describes the stadial stage in its development. The strategy for studying the sophomodity of the "parts" and the “whole” genre, the ratio of the stable and changeable in it, determines the logic of the study of the genre -type poetics of the Russian classical story and the processes of artistic synthesis.
