Ivan Ulyanovich Basargin (1930-1976), a beautiful original Siberian author, despite a short life, managed to leave a prominent mark in Russian literature. His very first large work - the novel “Wild bees” - became a real event in the Soviet literary environment. The reason was that the author turned not to the realities of socialist construction, but to the true history of the development and settlement of Siberia by pioneers. The main characters of the novel are the descendants of the Old Believers who went into the wilds of Sikhote-Alin in search of a quiet and almost paradise life. When a new, Soviet government with their strict ideological attitudes appeared there, people were indignant and stood up to defend their small homeland. It was precisely because of an honest story about the tragedy of suppression in the late 1930s of the Old Believer uprising the novel “Wild Bees” was never published during the author’s life and saw the light only in 1989
