Ivan Ulyanovich Basargin (1930-1976), a wonderful Siberian original writer, despite a short life, managed to leave a noticeable mark in Russian literature.
Already his first large work - the novel Wild bees - was an event in the Soviet literary environment. First of all, because the author turned not to the realities of socialist reality, but to the true history of the development and settlement of the Siberian Territory by pioneers. The main characters of the novel were the descendants of the Old Believers who went into the wilds of Sikhote-Alin in search of a calm and happy life. And when a new, Soviet government with their gesture ideological attitudes came to them, people opposed this and defended their small homeland. It was precisely because of the true story about the tragedy of suppression in the late 1930s of the Old Believer rebellion the novel “Wild Bees” was never published during the life of the writer and saw the light only in 1989
