The first sketches to the novel were made by Mikhail Bulgakov, then a novice writer, in 1922-1923 - “in the black period” of his life. The first year of his life in Moscow went, where Bulgakov moved from Vladikavkaz: hunger, hopeless poverty, piecework work for a penny, nor his corner, nor intelligible prospects. He could not even go to Kyiv for his mother’s funeral in February 1922 - there was no money for tickets. And Bulgakov gave her a tribute to his sons of love on the pages of his first novel. The novel, in which in his own way he “plunged”-singing-the fabulous world of his childhood, the streets of his romantic youth, the cozy decorations of intellectual life, preserved only in his memory. Everything that is irrevocably gone, swept away by a hurricane of revolution and civil war.
