White Guard

The White Guard is the first big work of Bulgakov and the only novel that was published during the life of the author. For the first time-in the journal "Russia" back in 1925, the novel was completely published in France in 1927-1929.
This is the history of the 1918 Civil War, the history of the collapse of the foundations and traditions, designed by an eyewitness and a participant in those events. But at the same time, it is an interesting, largely autobiographical family saga. Almost all characters have prototypes - relatives, friends, familiar Bulgakov families. Turbines are a lost generation. The former homeland is no longer ... Moral guidelines staggered, but resisted. And now, in the madness of the time, the heroes are trying to preserve at least a small fraction of what they believed in at all costs ...
