We walked under the roar of a cannonade

The main character of the novel is the seven -grader Volodya Volkov. His father fights against the Nazis somewhere far in a foreign land, and his mother works in the Leningrad Zoo. Volodya often happens at his mother’s work, because he patronizes the “kindergarten” of the zoo - young animals who need care and help. Volodya has the most ordinary life - school, friends, first love - but the usual course of things violates a sudden fascist attack on his native country. But how exactly can seventh graders help in the fight against the enemy? Volodya and his classmates have to find out this from their own experience.
