The plays of Alexander Nikolayevich Ostrovsky (1823-1886), which included in this collection, were created by him for a very short segment of a forty -year creative path - from 1868 to 1870. Everything then happily coincided: the stormy rise of the economy, radical changes in society, the heyday of the playwright"s talent. The result is three masterpieces, which not only captured the era (it was always merit to Zorkoy Ostrovsky), but also drawn many trajectories in Russian and world dramaturgy and even in social development. The most probably visual example is the "forest", thirty years later, who inspired Chekhov on the "Cherry Garden", from which the chain stretched to all the great modernists of the twentieth century. In our time, the name of the comedy "Mad Money" has also acquired fresh relevance in our time. But it would be boring and insulting to perceive Ostrovsky today only as a manual on social studies or the history of the theater.
