“Twelve chairs” - the cult novel of Ilya Ilf and Evgeny Petrov about the adventures of the great combinator Ostap Bender and his partner, the former county leader of the nobility, Hippolytus Matveevich Vorobyaninov, was written in 1927.
The plot is based on the story of the travels of two companions, united in a durable tandem for the search for diamonds sewn in one of the twelve chairs of furniture set Madame Petukhova - the late mother -in -law of Vorobyaninov.
