The monograph gives a characteristic of the ground armed forces of one of the strongest powers in Europe and Asia - the Ottoman Empire of the late XVI - early XVIII century. Based on a significant array of sources, the authors consider the military institutions of the Ottoman port during the period of reaching the highest power of this state, when the possessions of the sultans extended from Morocco to Iran and from Yemen to the Northern Black Sea region and Hungary. Issues such as the organization and number of Porta Porta (Kapykul’s troops), the structure of the Sipachian militia and provincial troops, the role of the “vassal” contingents (special attention are paid to the armed groups of the Crimean Khanate), mobilization and leadership of the troops, the number of field armies of the sultans, and the order of the order in campaign and actions in battle.
