The Livonian war occupies a special place in the history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and its difficult relations with the Moscow state. The conflict because of Livonia led to their direct clash and the resumption of the struggle for Russian lands.
The famous Belarusian historian A.N. Yanushkevich tried to look at the events from the "Lithuanian" point of view, putting 1558-1570 in the Center for the study, when the GCL opposed Moscow as a sovereign state. The truce of 1570 put an end to Vilna’s military struggle, fixing the cardinal internal (union with Poland, fading the dynasty of the lagellons, an armless) and external changes.
The author built the work mainly on the materials of the GDL, scrupulously analyzing the organization of the armed forces and defensive measures, the mobilization and distribution of finances. He managed to create a holistic concept of the participation of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the Livonian war.
An illustrated map "territory of North-East Belarus during the Livonian war of 1558-1570 is attached to the book.
