Evgeny Nikolaevich Chirikov (1864-1932) - Russian writer of the late XIX - early XX centuries, a native of Kazan, who did not adopt the 1917 revolution. During the Civil War, Chirikov actively participated in the white movement, and in 1920 he received a note from Volzhanin and a classmate at Kazan University: "Evgeny Nikolaevich, leave. I respect your talent, but you bother me. I have to arrest you if you do not leave. Ulyanov-Lenin ". Everything that is described in the novel, the author saw and survived himself, creating a true art chronicle about how people lived, hated and loved in those terrible years
