Petr Alexandrovich Nilus (1869-1943) - artist, writer, public figure, one of the prominent representatives of the partnership of mobile art exhibitions. He was suffered by the same dramatic fate as many domestic artists who, after emigration in the early 1920s, continued to be fruitfully engaged in creativity and exhibit their works in Europe, but turned out to be almost forgotten in their homeland.
Atmosphere, mood, impression (impression) - these are the main components of his arts. Nilus wrote about himself: “I started with movement, I was a desperate realist ... I needed an impressionist approach here ... Gradually, I came to the conclusion that real art was sitting in ourselves and that you need to draw what you feel”.
The writer I. A. Bunin, with whom Nilus was associated with real friendship, became for him the “godfather” in literature. Seeing in him, according to V. N. Muromtseva, not only the “poet of colors in painting, but also a connoisseur of nature, people, especially women”, he inspired the artist to engage in literary activity.
