Many books have been written about the participation of Soviet troops in the Afghan war. However, despite the wide range of topics raised in domestic publications, there are still many white spots in its history, including the actions of the Soviet special forces against the Islamic armed opposition in Afghanistan.
Alexey Chikishev, a participant in the hostilities in Afghanistan, awarded the Orders of the Battle Red Banner and the Red Star, the medal For Military Merit, the Afghan Order For Courage, gives a balanced, objective assessment of the Afghan events of 1979-1989. And the participation of the Soviet military contingent in them on the basis of the deep knowledge of the realities of the war, the history of Afghanistan, the life and traditions of the peoples inhabiting it.
