Relations of the Soviet Union with the countries of Latin America have long -standing historical roots. The first mention of the Western Hemisphere in Russian dates back to the first half of the 16th century. In the 19th century, Russian volunteers fought in the Bolivar troops, participated in the liberation struggle of the Cuban people. In the 20th century, relations of Soviet Russia with many Latin American countries became even closer. Their struggle for independence met the political and economic interests of the Soviet Union, which contributed to its rapprochement with some countries of South America, which headed for socialist development. This book discusses the stages of the USSR military-technical cooperation with some Latin American countries: Cuba, Chile, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Peru and Salvador
