The work is devoted to the events of the latter in the history of the Russo-Polish War (1654-1667), caused by the adoption by the Moscow government of the Zaporizhzhya Cossack army to its citizenship and ended with the Andrusovsky truce (1667), which led to the "Eternal World" in 1686. The author of the work discovers an unconventional view of some historical values, which are still considered textbook. He gives his vision of a well -known event interpreted with us as a "reunification of Ukraine with Russia". Considering and analyzing the complex node of Russia"s relations with the Commonwealth and the influence of the Ukrainian side on them, the author not only doubts, but also denies the legality of the decision proclaimed by Pereyaslav’s Rada, giving his assessment to what happened, capable of explaining many aspects of the further relations of the Slavic peoples up to this day
