Alexander Vissarionovich Kitaev (1888-1953) was known as an artist and teacher during his lifetime, but his vast poetic heritage was a bright and original page in Russian poetry of the 1910-1920s. Rejecting the canons of modernism and overcoming the imitation of earlier traditions, Kitaev poetized peasant labor and life, steppe and Volga landscapes, not becoming a worshiping “poet from the people”. The fresh, loud, deliberately rude poetic "voice" of Kitaev, who reached literary maturity by the beginning of the 1920s and called himself "Imazhinist", was not appreciated by criticism, although he was seen by readers. The Kitaev’s handwritten archive scattered in private collections. This publication includes the most interesting of its famous poems, mainly the period of 1916-1923. A significant part of the texts is published for the first time
