Roman Yakov Lvovich Deche (1898-1956), known as Yakov Lovich, the "Shanghayans" was published in 1949 and has not been completely reprinted since then. Thanks to the efforts of Andrei Kravtsov, Mr. Iva Franken and the Museum of Russian Culture in San Francisco, we have the opportunity to introduce the reader to this novel.
At the beginning of the novel, the author himself explains what"s what. The task of the publishing house in this case is to show different approaches to the interpretation of this segment of history. We know very little about this or know from retelling. In this case, an eyewitness speaks with us, we plunge in the era of stormy, tragic events. It is important not what you are on which you are on (this issue is solved for himself), but it is important to understand the origins and motives of what is happening
