The book included two novels of a wonderful Russian writer, participant in the Great Patriotic War Vyacheslav Leonidovich Kondratyev (1920-1993): "Sashka" and "Vacation by wounds". These works were written in the very end of the 1970s, more than thirty years after the end of the war. Criticism met them enthusiastically - for the truth of the war, because the heroes were ordinary Russian guys, ingenuous and open. The reader opens their inner world, in which the same battles go, invisible, but no less important than in the real battlefield.
Both novels are only about one page of the war. Battle of Rzhev. But the front -line soldiers who fought near Moscow and Stalingrad, on the Prokhorovsky field and the Zeelovsky heights, recognized themselves in Kondratyev’s heroes, their feelings and thoughts, their joy and pain, their "trench" truth.
