The novel by Artem Veseloy (1899-1938) “Russia washed” formally belongs to early Soviet literature, but in terms of style and content, he falls out of the clip of socialist realism. His hero - this is a Russia -soared Russia, where everyone - both “right” and “wrong” - pass through the bloody font of the Russian rebellion. Expressionism and polyphony of the author’s style raise images of provincial Russia to epic carnivality. Artem Veseliy divided the fate of his heroes and was shot in the Stalinist dungeons. After the rehabilitation of the writer, his novel was reprinted in 1958 only with censorship bills. In this publication, he is published according to the most complete lifetime edition of 1936 with the addition of a text preserved in the writer’s personal archive
